Crossroads Clinic Volunteers in Medicine has remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic, never stopping care to our existing patients as well as accepting new patients when needed. We have increased our cleaning practices each day. All staff wear masks while in the clinic. Like most other physician offices in the US, we have adopted the practice of telemedicine instead of a face-to-face visit. Telemedicine for us is a phone call first with the nurse, then an extended call with the doctor to discuss your condition. Patients are satisfied with this approach whether they are suffering new medical problems, need to discuss recent test results, have a change in medication or need a consultation with a specialist. More importantly, the medical and nursing staff feel this is a safe alternate for you during the pandemic.
Patients will be notified if medications have been received in the clinic for them. The pharmacist will notify and the patient can come to the clinic and pick up the new medication supply. You should wear a mask when in the clinic area.
Phones are open every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am-1:00pm. You may call any time during those hours and the nurse will call you back to discuss your concern. If needed, the doctor is consulted for additional input before the nurse calls you. Voicemails left on the clinic phone after hours are returned the next clinic day. If you need a refill on a current medication, call your pharmacy. They will fax a refill request to us and the doctor can reorder or adjust the dose. The nurse will then fax your refill request back to your pharmacy who will notify you once it is ready.
If you are concerned you may have COVID-19, call during clinic hours and a registered nurse will review your symptoms and advise you of next steps after conferring with the doctor. If you are concerned during a time the clinic is called, Contact your Health Department and that staff member will screen you and advise you for next steps.
